Thaddeus is a former NYC Fire Protection Inspector with additional experience working as a HVAC mechanic for Columbia University and a Fire Systems Mechanic. He moved from New York to the Virginia Beach area to help take care of his aging mother. After relocating, Thaddeus found it difficult to find employment despite his extensive skills and professional background. He enrolled in a program at Thomas Nelson Community College to get his HVAC certification and CAMT certification to further enhance his marketability to potential employers. The building maintenance and HVAC program at Thomas Nelson Community College is an S2S partner in Virginia Beach. It was there that he learned about S2S and the opportunity for employment and housing.

Thaddeus’s experience and background was a great fit for our property management partner in the area, Drucker & Falk. He was hired as a service technician for two of their properties, Hidenwood North and Kate’s Trace Apartments in Newport News.

“My life has changed for the better. I am able to employ the skills I have obtained over the years. It has given me back a sense of independence. It feels good to wake up and know there is work to be done. Thank you Shelters to Shutters for being there for me. This is one part of my life that can’t be forgotten.”
