Shelters to Shutters Launches City Advisory Board to Lift More Individuals Out of Homelessness
DC-Area Business Leaders Offer Expertise to Increase Impact and Solidify Innovative Approach

VIENNA, Va. – June 25, 2019–Shelters to Shutters (S2S), a national non-profit that transitions individuals and families from homelessness to economic self-sufficiency, is pleased to announce its first City Advisory Board (CAB), in the Washington, D.C. area. The CAB will bring a local focus to building partnerships and capacity in the DMV area to further expand S2S’s innovative approach to lifting individuals out of homelessness and into employment and housing.

“We’re thrilled to have this impressive group of accomplished business leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their community be a part of this critical next step of growth and impact for our organization,” said Andy Helmer, CEO of S2S.  “Our goal is to increase support and awareness about Shelters to Shutters’ program and in doing so accelerate our ability to change the lives of more individuals and families in the DC metro area at risk of or experiencing homelessness.”

Comprising esteemed leaders from the real estate, telecommunications, legal, media, nonprofit and other industries, the newly-formed City Advisory Board will oversee S2S planning and operations in the DMV area. “Shelters to Shutters has done a phenomenal job mobilizing the real estate community to help break the cycle of homelessness for so many deserving individuals, “ said Bobby Moran, Chief Revenue Officer, EVERFI.  “I am honored to join the DC City Advisory Board to help raise awareness and increase S2S’ impact across the region.  S2S plans to launch additional City Advisory Boards in Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC later this year.
